ProView – Club Ride Apparel Men’s Go Long Long Sleeve

As a cycling commuter I have often been turned off by performance gear because it is super impractical if you are working in an office all day. I don’t really like being “that guy” so I normally just bike in a base layer and then change when I get to work. But the Club Ride Go Long shirt has won me over. It fits well so I have a full range of movement and the thin material combined with the vents lets it breathe so well that it keeps you cool on the road. When you get to the office it looks like a clean sharp button up that you can work in all day and not look like you’re wearing a cycling shirt. I really love it.

Summary

This shirt single-handedly won me over to performance cycling gear! I couldn’t be more impressed by the performance of this shirt. It is great to wear on a ride and then can be worn wherever you want to go. It does everything you want it to.

Overall
4.5

Pros

  • Lightweight
  • Breathable
  • Very attractive

Cons

  • Awkward fit

Fit/Comfort

I’m 6”1’, 205lbs, not your typical cyclist build, and I tested the XL. It fits well in the chest and length but the sleeves are a little too long for my taste. However, I always role up the sleeves so the sleeve length is not an issue for me. I like that it’s long enough to come past my belt but not too long that it gets stuck on the saddle. Great overall fit.

Look/Style

I absolutely love the look of this shirt. The Seaport Blue plaid has a sharp, classy look that you can wear with jeans or khakis and look great. I especially like that it doesn’t look like your typical “performance” apparel. It has a clean, classic, button up feel to it that fits in anywhere.

Features

This shirt is jam packed with usable features. The 2 way stretch, wicking fabric is fantastic. That combined with the under arm vents breathes so well that you it keeps you super cool while riding. Not only that but it has reflective accents that you don’t notice until you are riding in low light (which is the only time that you want them to be seen). The only feature that I wasn’t a big fan of was the chest pocket. They have integrated it really well in the design, but it just didn’t work that well.

Weight/Packability

This is the most lightweight and packable shirt I own. Even though it looks like a normal button-up, the fabric is so lightweight that it can pack into a sandwich bag.

Function/Performance

I couldn’t be more impressed by the performance of this shirt. It is great to wear on a ride and then can be worn wherever you want to go. It does everything you want it to.

Durability/Construction

This shirt is fantastically constructed. The seams are clean and comfortable, and it’s super durable. I have worked it hard and still looks and fits like it is brand new.

Sustainability

I’m not certain what kind of carbon footprint Club Ride is leaving. They do a lot with keeping the popularity of cycling going and insuring that there are safe, accessible places to ride.

The Final Word

The Club Ride Go Long shirt is the perfect shirt for the cycling commuter. It combines everything you want from a piece of performance gear into the package of a wear everywhere collared button-up.
