ProView – Club Ride Apparel Women’s Savvy Short

With an 80 degree weekend on the forecast in Moab this spring, I couldn’t resist catching a few rides under the soul-warming desert sun.  Not long after, the nice weather hit the Front Range and finally made it shorts weather for riding. From the punchy climbs in Moab, to the flowy singletrack down in Buffalo Creek, these shorts offered the comfort and breathability I was looking for.

Summary

I love these shorts! They’re not only durable, but extremely lightweight and comfortable. Whether you’re out on a quick commute in town, or all day on the trails, these shorts will provide the all day comfort you need, on or off the bike!

Overall
4.5

Pros

  • Extra stretchy
  • Breathable
  • Fast drying.

Cons

  • Waist too low
  • Drawstring doesn’t always stay tucked in

Fit/Comfort

I paired these with my favorite chamois, the Club Ride Women’s Drift Chamois, and found the shorts and chamois complimented each other very well!  As someone who has bigger hips/thighs and a smaller waist, the drawstring around the waist made it easy to dial in the fit. These shorts likely wouldn’t have worked for me without that added feature. The stretch in these shorts make them comfortable with or without chamois.

Look/Style

I appreciate the neutral color. Often times, women’s mountain biking apparel can be a little overkill on bright colors and fun patterns. A neutral pair of shorts is a must have staple. The shorter inseam option helps the shorts to not overly look like mountain bike shorts, which makes them great to wear from the trail to town. I see myself wearing these for a quick commute around town, out and about, and on the trails alike. As a person with a love for collecting hobbies, I appreciate when I can use one piece of gear in multiple settings!

Features

The 4-way stretch fabric is really no joke! Not only does the stretch of these shorts provide the ultimate comfort, these are also extremely breathable and have a wicking and quick dry fabric. This made riding under the afternoon desert sun a little more bearable. The ‘NoCrackBack’ added another layer of comfort and knowing I was well covered no matter the maneuver.  The pockets are made with a mesh, breathable lining. The zipper pocket is just big enough for my Iphone XR. I appreciated the drawstring feature. It’s really difficult to find gear that fits perfectly, and little features like this can make a huge difference. The drawstring itself is a little pesky and I found myself tucking it back into my shorts every so often. I would’ve liked to see a smidge higher of a cut on the waist for both the front and back.

Function/Performance

I chose the 9” inseam, but I wish I would’ve gone with the 11” for more coverage on my legs. The length is great when you’re hanging around, but as soon as you sit on the bike, the legs hike up a bit leaving quite a bit of leg exposed. Aside from that, these shorts were great on climbs and downhills alike.

Durability/Construction

I went all out to test the durability of these shorts when I brake checked myself on a drop… oops! Let’s just say.. the shorts fared better than I did. You can tell just by looking at these that they are well constructed and thoughtfully designed. Although the material is lightweight, it’s incredibly tough.

The Final Word

I love these shorts! They’re not only durable, but extremely lightweight and comfortable. Whether you’re out on a quick commute in town, or all day on the trails, these shorts will provide the all day comfort you need, on or off the bike!
