ProView – Native El Jefe Sunglasses
Native Eyewear’s El Jefe Sunglasses are the stylish pair of shades that perform in any light condition the outdoors will throw at you.
In order to test the Native Eyewear El Jefe sunglasses, they became my every day and every-adventure sunglasses. Working and recreating in the Colorado outdoors, I wear sunglasses for a majority of my day-to-day life. I wear glasses often enough where I have a permanent tan on the bridge of my nose. Let’s just say that this reviewer’s optometrist loves him.

Native offers everything that an environmentally-conscious consumer could ask for. Glasses sourced from sustainable materials that can perform in any situation that you may find yourself in. These glasses quickly became my everyday glasses because there is little distinction between performance and lifestyle, from trailhead to pub.
- From adventure to town
- None, so far
Over the testing period, these sunglasses followed me in all conditions. From sunny spring days to cold and miserable epics in the alpine. These glasses held their own in every possible light condition, and the versatility of the lenses make these glasses a remarkable tool in the outdoors. The ability of the El Jefe sunglasses became most apparent in the backcountry, making the stark dimorphism of low light skiing and bluebird Colorado days a non-issue.
True to their design, the El Jefe sunglasses blur the line between performance and style. Where one could transition from ski to apres-ski without the need to take them off. For your average skier, runner, climber etc – they are an everything piece of gear.
A thick and padded bridge and durable arms create a pair of sunglasses that can feel secure on your face and stay there for a long period of time without discomfort. Frequently these glasses were worn by this reviewer from morning until dusk without issue.
If there is one word to describe these glasses at first glance it’s stylish. A pair that I would certainly pick out of a lineup, and quickly keep upon trying them on and discovering their impeccable performance.
Native Eyeglasses’ call to fame is their use of Eco-Friendly materials in the construction of their sunglasses. Instead of using petroleum-based products in their construction, Native opts to use sustainable and biodegradable materials. This feature alone makes Native Eyewear an enticing company to support as an environmentalist. The quality construction, exceptional performance make Native Eyewear an enticing company to support as an outdoor recreator.
The MVP of the El Jefe sunglasses are definitely the N3 polarized lenses. Delivering a crisp and high-contrast filter that is in the upper echelon of the performance sunglass market. Combine that with their comfortable fit, and beefed construction on the peripherals, these glasses are built to perform in the outdoors.
These glasses feel solid in your hand. They don’t feel fragile and can hold up to some abuse. For this reviewer, this abuse came in being stuffed in ski coat pockets when transitioning to ski goggles for the downhill. Abuse also came in the form of being stored in the brain of your pack on hikes and inside your backpack on bumpy bike rides. These glasses still look as they did when first unboxed. They have solid, thick-framed construction and their durability is a testament to this careful construction. Despite the choice to avoid implementing traditional plastics in their construction, their sustainable materials may even be more durable than their antiquated predecessors.
The Final Word
Native offers everything that an environmentally conscious consumer could ask for. Glasses sourced from sustainable materials that can perform in any situation that you may find yourself in. These glasses quickly became my everyday glasses because there is little distinction between performance and lifestyle, from trailhead to pub.
Room for improvement
There is hardly a thing that I could say negatively about these sunglasses. Seriously, they’re awesome. Even their price point is more than reasonable, especially compared to comparable sunglasses in the market. I’d give these glasses a 5/5 stars!
