ProView – Wild Country Session

If you want a harness that’s got your back literally and figuratively, this harness does a great job with that. Great overall feel made with quality materials for a complete package with great comfort included.

I went on a few climbing trips with this harness, and it’s seen the inside of a few NYC and Connecticut gyms throughout the month. The best trip it took was to a local crag in New Haven, CT named “West Rock”. Over there I was really able to put it through its paces on different sport climbs that I led and on top rope as I cleaned several routes. This is one of the places that I frequent due to joining members of the climbing gym that I work at. During this trip to west rock, it was a great day to be out there and on the rock. Shoes were sticking, fingers were gripping, just a great day to climb with some good weather to top it off in the middle of September.

Performance

The Wild Country Session harness is definitely a performance-based product. The way it was made was not for entry-level, in my opinion, but that doesn’t take away from how good it is for anyone to use. The design is very sleek and tidy without being bulky like some of my past harnesses. The gear loops are sewn in very well and have a decent amount of rigidity through the entire loop. It is extremely lightweight and easily packable in any bag. The way they designed the padding and support within the harness is fantastic. It does give when sitting in it on long routes, but it bounces back quickly and as soon as you start to climb again it is back to its original shape.

On top of that, it is very breathable when it comes to warmer days projecting long easy routes or even short intense projects. I think it shines the brightest during sport climbs. During my time sport climbing in it well over exceeded my expectations of what I thought a sport harness could feel like, and the level it could truly perform at. While using the session harness on sport climbs with Petzl Spirit Express’ attached to it, it barely felt heavier than just carrying up the draws by itself by hand. 

The Final Word

Yes, its that good! This harness nailed all of the boxes. Lightweight… check, durable… check, packable… check, comfortable… check. Wilc country crafted a wonderful product. This lightweight-yet-durable harness is a sport climber’s dream and it really excels when it comes to those two categories. There is only one thing that I could say that they could have done differently — swap the plastic clips on the back of the legs for something that is a little more durable. Other than that, there is not much else I would change. Overall a top-notch product! Every time I get in it, I am impressed.
